John grew up in the East Texas area where his family ran a small cattle operation, and a Land and Timber consulting business for many years. Growing up on a farm taught him work-ethic, common sense and the importance of honesty and integrity in business relationships. John has experience in both residential home transactions and rural land transactions. John has spent the last several years in the West Texas area flipping homes and buying and selling real estate. John holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Tyler and a Master of Arts degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
John enjoys hunting, camping, sports, building stuff in his garage, and spending time with family and friends. John is also a Baptist pastor and has served in churches all over the state of Texas. John is married to Rebekah, and they have three children.

Jay is a 1979 graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a BS degree in Forestry and began his forestry career as a procurement forester with Anthony Forest Products of El Dorado, Arkansas. He became Forestry Manager and was responsible for the care and management of over 75,000 acres of company owned timberland, additional land purchases, timber purchases, mill inventories, logging, and forestry personnel.
Since 1998, he has been the principal of Jay Tidwell Forestry, LLC, manages timber and timberland assets as a professional consulting forester for clients by providing comprehensive forestry services. In addition, as a licensed Texas real estate agent, he provides clients the opportunities to buy and sell timber, agricultural or recreational tracts, as well as commercial and residential properties.
He has been married to Susan, also a Louisiana Tech graduate and the librarian at Atlanta Elementary, for 37 years. He and Susan have three children and four grandchildren. His interests include many family activities and most anything outdoors. He is an avid golfer, but enjoys forestry, gardening, shooting sports, hunting and fishing. He is a Baptist, and was honored to have been elected as a Board Member of the Atlanta Independent School District. He has served on the Appraisal Review Board for the Cass County Appraisal District, the Cass County Agriculture Review Board, and was a member of the Atlanta Memorial Hospital Board of Directors. He was appointed by the Atlanta City Council as a member of the Atlanta Economic Development Corporation and was past President. He is a member of several professional organizations including the Texas Forestry Association, the Cass County Landowners Association and member of the National Association and the Texas Association of Realtors.
Brian has been a licensed Texas Realtor since 2008 and now is the Broker/Owner of United Country | Double Creek Land and Homes which specializes in brokering farms and ranches, timberland and recreational properties in East Texas. He was born and raised in Cass County. He attended Texas A&M University on a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarship and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Education. Brian taught high school Agricultural Science and Forestry for 6 years before beginning work in the field of forestry eventually owning his own forest products company. Through the years he has managed timberland across East Texas and invested in land and other types of real estate. Brian’s passion is educating landowners in the process of buying and selling rural land and teaching them the aspects of how to make that land highly productive while maintaining sustainability.
Brian serves his community in multiple roles. He is currently serving as a member of the Cass County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, Marion-Cass Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Directors, Cass County Appraisal District Ag Advistory Board, and he serves on the North East Texas Regioanl Mobility Authority. In 2018 Brian was nominated and selected to serve on the Texas Farm Bureau State Forestry Commodity Committee where he is currently serving as chairman. He has continued to teach young people through local 4-H Clubs, currently serving as project manager in Natural Resources. His 4-H Forestry teams have had multiple state championships and competed nationally in 2011 and 2016.
Brian and his wife Marcie have been married for 27 years and live in the small community of Kildare on their ranch where they raise cattle and timber. They have 2 sons, Caleb and Joshua. As a family, they enjoy hunting whitetail deer, dove, turkey, elk, and hogs as well as fishing in nearby Wright Patman Lake, Caddo Lake and Lake O’ the Pines. The Whatley family are members of Cross Creek Cowboy Church in Atlanta, Texas.

Marcie Whatley was raised on a farm in Marion County, Texas. After graduating high school from Avinger ISD, she attended North East Texas Community College obtaining her Associates Degree. She later married her best friend, Brian Whatley, building their cattle herd and raising their family in Cass County. Marcie and Brian have two sons, Caleb and Joshua, which are their greatest accomplishments. Marcie spent 20 years homeschooling their boys, graduating their youngest in 2021.
With a heart for volunteering, Marcie serves and gives back to her community in many ways. She loves teaching her first and second graders Sunday School and AWANA classes, serving on missions outreach teams, Lady Wrangler woman’s group, and serving as the church treasurer at Cross Creek Cowboy Church.
Currently, Marcie, serves on the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce Board where she plays a part in the planning of events for the community and serving chamber member businesses.
Spending time with her family, Brian and their two boys and daughter-in-love, Montana, as well as her dog, Sadie bring the most joy to Marcie. She also enjoys spending time outdoors in her flowerbeds, checking her bee hive, working with their cattle herd and cooking.
Marcie has been involved in real estate for more than 20 years through investments in rental properties where she played a part in the purchase of properties as well as taking care of all of the bookkeeping and working with tenants.
Since 2019, Marcie has been the Office Administrator for United Country Double Creek Land and Homes and after obtaining her real estate license in 2020, she works alongside her husband as a Realtor.

Montana Whatley was born and raised in East Texas, graduating from Linden- Kildare High School. After High School she moved to College Station, TX where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Geographic Information Science and Technology (GIST) from Texas A&M University. Because of her passion for real estate, the outdoors, and helping individuals meet their needs, after graduating Montana went on to obtain her real estate license. With her passion for real estate and her knowledge of GIST, she is able to provide useful information to landowners about their property, and what makes it desirable to others. They love teaching their 1st and 2nd grade Sunday school class as well as being a part of a young adult group at their church.
